Have you ever played the game of riddles? The Cambridge dictionary defines riddle as ‘a type of question that describes something in a difficult and confusing way and has a clever or funny answer, often asked as a game’. Riddles are some kind of hard to explain questions. The question defines the answer in an amusing way with the aim of misdirecting the people. The image of man is hid in the riddle of life. Many men have died without finding the right answers. Many have died without a slightest hint of who they really are. Many have derailed from the course of their lives as they battled for an answer to the questions life kept posing at them.

Every question demands an answer. When questions go unanswered, ignorance grows unchecked and ungoverned. In the light of knowledge, there is controlled ignorance. It is the controlled ignorance that allows to be taught. In the world of the unknown, humility is the best outfit. Pastor John Hagee puts it this way, ‘speak and you will hear what you know. Listen and you will learn as you grow’. In all humility, I ask you, who are you?

Many of mankind’s problems would be solved or avoided if we genuinely knew our real identity. There are two main ways of solving a problem- by prevention or by cure. In both circles, knowledge is pivotal. If I know I cannot shoot a gun, I would not be involved in a gun battle. If I know I am a Christian born of God, I would not have any business with evil or the devil.

The irony of this life is when men convince themselves to be something they are not. No matter how much a fish convinces itself to be a bird; it can never climb a tree. Our identity then is not entirely found in what we convince ourselves to be. Galatians 6:3 “For if anyone thinks he is something (special) when in fact he is nothing (special except in his own eyes), he deceives himself”. AMPC

The riddles life presents has in it many questions, only one answer is needed. The sin nature found in man had many questions but Jesus Christ became the one-time premium answer.
